'THE MOST DIFFICULT THING FOR US HUMANS TO SEE IS OUR SIN'

'THE MOST DIFFICULT THING FOR US HUMANS TO SEE IS OUR SIN'               'IT IS FINISHED'

Please read along with me...

Romans 3:23 (King James Version)

 23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 6:23 (King James Version)

23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Acts 2:38 (King James Version)

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized 'every one' of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

God through His TENDER LOVE and MERCY, by the POWER of His HOLY SPIRIT convicts us of our SINS so that we CONFESS OUR SINS, REPENT,(TURN AWAY) from OUR SINS and BE FREE OF OUR SINS! :)  We lay down our Sins/Burdens at the CROSS where Jesus the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD DIED FOR 'ALL' THE SINS OF THE WORLD...PAST!...PRESENT!...FUTURE! "

John 19:30 (King James Version)

30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
PRAISE JESUS...THANK YOU JESUS...WE LOVE YOU JESUS!

hallelujah, halleluiah [ˌhælɪˈluːjə], alleluia [ˌælɪˈluːjə]interj
1. (Christianity / Ecclesiastical Terms) an exclamation of praise to God!

What are you waiting for?

Acts 22:16 (King James Version)

16And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

DEATH...BETTER BE RIGHT!!!

DEATH:  BETTER BE RIGHT!!!

Death is the termination of the biological functions that sustain a living organism. The word refers both to the particular processes of life's cessation as well as to the condition or state of a formerly living body. Phenomena which commonly bring about death include predation, malnutrition, accidents resulting in terminal injury, and disease.

The nature of death has been for millennia a central concern of the world's religious traditions and of philosophical enquiry, and belief in some kind of afterlife or rebirth has been a central aspect of religious belief. In modern scientific enquiry, the origin and nature of consciousness has yet to be fully understood; any such view about the existence or non-existence of consciousness after death therefore remains speculative.[1]...(WHAT?)...TALK WITH A DEAD PERSON AND FIND OUT FOR SURE!! YOU MAY SCARE THE HELL OUT OF YOURSELF!!! THAT IS THE IDEA!!!

Psalm 111:10 (King James Version)

10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

In most cases, thanatology is studied as a means towards the end of providing palliative care for dying individuals and their families. According to the World Health Organization, "palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problem associated with life-threatening illness," involving the "treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual."[2] Thanatology recognizes that, ultimately, death is inevitable. (BETTER BE PREPARED, RIGHT?) It works to develop guidelines to ease the process of dying. Thanatology also studies the similarities and differences of various cultures around the world and their manner of dealing with death of themselves or a loved one.
Thanatology does not directly explore the meaning of life and of death. Medically, this question is irrelevant to those studying it. Some[which?] medical texts refer to inquiries of the meaning of life and death as absurd and futile[citation needed]. However, the question is very relevant to the psychological health of those involved in the dying process: individuals, families, communities, and cultures. Thanatology explores how the question affects those involved, not the question itself.

Being just the messenger I am going to be BOLD here and ask ALL HUMANS to spend just a little time with the DEAD! I spent a little time picking up DEAD BODIES in Los Angeles...this gave me an opportunity to RESPECTIVELY talk with the DEAD!
I am not a Scientist...for one month...that is all I could handle :o! OMG! DEATH is not pretty!
I spoke with all the DEAD people I picked up 'PRAYERFULLY and with RESPECT'. To make a long story short...these DEAD HUMANS never Praised GOD, Sang, Talked, Spoke, Mumbled, Stuttered, Communicated in Any Way!!!
Psalm 115:17...
17The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

Thanatology is the academic, and often scientific, study of death among human beings. It investigates the circumstances surrounding a person's death, the grief experienced by the deceased's loved ones, and wider social attitudes toward death such as ritual and memorialization. It is primarily an interdisciplinary study, frequently undertaken by professionals in nursing, psychology, religious studies, sociology, psychiatry, and social work, and is offered as a course of study at many art schools[citation needed]. It also describes bodily changes that accompany death and the post-mortem period.
The word is derived from the Greek language. In Greek mythology, Thanatos (θάνατος: "death") is the personification of death.[1] The English suffix -ology derives from the Greek suffix -logia (-λογια: "speaking").

The Best Way to PREPARE for DEATH...Remember I Am Just The Messenger:)

John 14:6 (King James Version)

6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

 Psalm 23 (King James Version)

1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. AMEN!!!

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Sweet As Honey...Belly Was Bitter...What Does This Mean...

Sweet As Honey...Belly Was Bitter...What Does This Mean...

 Revelation 10:10
8And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
9And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

Under the seventh trumpet, all antichristian powers are to be destroyed and there will be a glorious state of Christ's kingdom upon earth.

Most men feel pleasure in looking into future events, and all good men like to receive a word from God. But when this book of prophecy was thoroughly digested by the apostle, the contents would be bitter; there were things so awful and terrible, such grievous persecutions of the people of God, such desolations in the earth, that the foresight and foreknowledge of them would be painful to his mind. Let us seek to be taught by Christ, and to obey his orders; daily meditating on his
word, that it may nourish our souls; and then declaring it according to our several stations. The sweetness of such contemplations will often be mingled with bitterness, while we compare the Scriptures with the state of the world and the church, or even with that of our own hearts.

Matthew 4:4 (King James Version)4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Christians! Develop a Battle Plan! We know the Enemy is at work...

Ephesians 6:12-13 (King James Version)

                                                                 'THE ENEMY'

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

                                                             'More Than Conquerors'

1 Corinthians 15:57 (King James Version)

57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:31-32 (King James Version)

31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

                                                                          'Peace'

Philippians 4:7 (King James Version)

7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Israel...Gods Timepiece...WATCH ALWAYS...

28Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: 29So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. 30Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. 31Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. 32But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

33Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. 34For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING.

WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING.

Philippians 2:12 (King James Version)

12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Diligence in the affairs of salvation, and to be examples to the world.

We must be diligent in the use of all the means which lead to our salvation, persevering therein to the end. With great care, lest, with all our advantages, we should come short. Work out your salvation, for it is God who worketh in you. This encourages us to do our utmost, because our labour shall not be in vain: we must still depend on the grace of God. The working of God's grace in us, is to quicken and engage our endeavours. God's good-will to us, is the cause of his good work in
us. Do your duty without murmurings. Do it, and do not find fault with it. Mind your work, and do not quarrel with it. By peaceableness; give no just occasion of offence. The children of God should differ from the sons of men. The more perverse others are, the more careful we should be to keep ourselves blameless and harmless. The doctrine and example of consistent believers will enlighten others, and direct their way to Christ and holiness, even as the light-house warns mariners to avoid
rocks, and directs their course into the harbour. Let us try thus to shine. The gospel is the word of life, it makes known to us eternal life through Jesus Christ. Running, denotes earnestness and vigour, continual pressing forward; labouring, denotes constancy, and close application. It is the will of God that believers should be much in rejoicing; and those who are so happy as to have good ministers, have great reason to rejoice with them.

'SHAKE OFF THE DUST OF YOUR FEET'

'SHAKE OFF THE DUST OF YOUR FEET', ALL HUMANS ARE "BENT" AWAY FROM GOD. THE NATURE OF MAN IS SELF AND SELF-GRATIFICATION...

Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus...do not be anxious for anything for there are many that do not want to hear the Gospel of the Kingdom of God...please read with me...

Matthew 10:14

14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

The apostles sent forth...

Henry's commentary...

Though the apostles were conscious to themselves of great weakness, and yet, in obedience to their Master, and in dependence upon his strength, they went out. expected no wordly advantage,They did not amuse people with curious matters, but told them they must repent of their sins, and turn to God. The servants of Christ may hope to turn many from darkness unto God, and to heal souls by the power of the Holy Ghost. (Mk 6:14-29)

Mark 6:11

11And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

The apostles instructed and sent forth.

Henry's Commentary...

The Gentiles must not have the gospel brought them, till the Jews have refused it. This restraint on the apostles was only in their first mission. Wherever they went they must proclaim, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. They preached, to establish the faith; the kingdom, to animate the hope; of heaven, to inspire the love of heavenly things, and the contempt of earthly; which is at hand, that men may prepare for it without delay. Christ gave power to work miracles for the confirming
of their doctrine. This is not necessary now that the kingdom of God is come. It showed that the intent of the doctrine they preached, was to heal sick souls, and to raise those that were dead in sin. In proclaiming the gospel of free grace for the healing and saving of men's souls, we must above all avoid the appearance of the spirit of an hireling. They are directed what to do in strange towns and cities. The servant of Christ is the ambassador of peace to whatever place he is sent. His...(JESUS CHRIST)...
message is even to the vilest sinners, yet it behoves him to find out the best persons in every place. It becomes
us to pray heartily for all, and to conduct ourselves courteously to all. They are directed how to act as to those that refused them. The whole counsel of God must be declared, and those who will not attend to the gracious message, must be shown that their state is dangerous. This should be seriously laid to heart by all that hear the gospel, lest their privileges only serve to
increase their condemnation. (Mt 10:16-42)

The world cries out for MORE... for MORE of what... MORE! Love Me, Adore Me, Worship Me, Award Me, Care for Me, Give to Me, I want MORE for Me, Make Me Feel Good/ Better, 'Whatever', MORE Audio, Visual, Sensual, Emotional, Oral, Touch Me, Feel Me, ME...ME...ME...MORE...MORE...MORE! OH MY GOD!...
BUT PLEASE NO MORE JESUS!!!

 NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!!
20Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
33And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

'THE PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE...WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?'

'THE PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE...WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Jesus Christ The Son Of God, The King Of The JEWS/ISRAEL!

Please read along with me....

The Fig Tree and its fruit, the fig, are mentioned several times in the New Testament as well as the Old Testament. Biblical references to figs are often symbolic and refer to more than just the common Mediterranean fruit tree and the Common Fig. In the Bible, figs are a symbol or type, subject to various interpretations.

In the Old Testament, the fig tree is the third tree to be mentioned by its name. The first is the Tree of Life and the second is the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam and Eve used the leaves of the fig tree to sew garments for themselves when they realized they were naked.Genesis 3:7 It was one of the food produced by the promised land Deuteronomy 8:8-10
In 1 Kings 4:25 it was listed as a great accomplishment: During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, each man under his own vine and fig tree. This wonderful situation was later turned around during the reign of Hezekiah as 2 Kings 18:5-7 testify: Hezekiah trusted Jehovah, the God of Israel, there was no one like him among all the kings of Judah either before or after him. He held fast to Jehovah and did not cease to follow him; he kept the commands Jehovah had given Moses, and Jehovah was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook. He rebelled against the King of Assyria and did not serve him.
The Assyrian commander addressed the people and said, "Do not listen to Hezekiah, this is what the King of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then each one of you will eat from his own vine and fig tree and drink water from his own cistern, until I come and take you to a land like your own...." 2 Kings 18:31-32 Of course Jehovah was fond of Hezekiah and his people and the Assyrian invasion was not successful this time.
Proverbs 27:18 likens tending a fig tree to looking after one's master. Of course there was a fig tree in the garden of the Song of Solomon. In the year of love the tree formed its fruit earlySong of.
The Fig Tree and figs are featured in the Book of Jeremiah.
Another species of ficus, the Egyptian Sycamore Fig is occasionally mentioned as well, for example 1 Kings 10:27 (and Luke 19:4 in the New Testament).

The Parable of the budding fig tree is found in Matt 24:32–36, Mark 13:28–32, Luke 21:29–33 as part of the Olivet discourse.

The Parable of the barren fig tree is a parable of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of Luke 13:6–9. A vinekeeper holds out hope that a barren fig tree will bear fruit next year.

Mark 11:12–20 includes an account of Jesus 'withering a fig tree / clearing the temple
A parallel is found in Matthew 21:18–22. In Mark 11:20-24, the next day, Simon Peter notices that the cursed fig tree has withered. In Matthew, the fig tree withers immediately and is noticed at that time by the disciples.

The Jewish Encyclopedia[3] states that the fig tree is a symbol of the coming of the Mashiach
Messiah, Hebrew: משיח‎‎; mashiah, moshiah, mashiach, or  moshiach,("anointed [one]") is a term used in the Hebrew Bible to describe priests and kings, who were traditionally anointed with holy anointing oil as described in Exodus 30:22-25. For example, Cyrus the Great, the king of Persia, though not a Hebrew, is referred to as "God's anointed" (Messiah) in the Bible.

In the noncanonical Apocalypse of Peter, Peter discusses the significance of the fig tree with Jesus, who says the fig tree represents "the house of Israel."[4]

There are approximately 30 references to The Fig tree in the Bible (depending on the translation) and approximately 50 references to a vine. Some are literal and some metaphorical. These are in the Gospels:
  • The cursing of the barren fig tree by Jesus (Matthew 21:18-22), (Mark 11)
  • The parable of the barren fig tree (Luke 13:6-9)
  • The parable of the budding fig tree (Mar 13:28-29), (Mat 24:32-33), (Luke 21:29-31)
  • In chapter 15 of the gospel of John, Jesus says he is 'the vine'.
  • There are also references to 'the vineyard' in the Old Testament, believed to be related to Israel in the prophesies of Isaiah.[7]
  •
  •
To understand in context the 'withering of the fig tree' it is important to see if Jesus' teaching elsewhere follows similar themes. We read in John 15 that Jesus says he is the true vine. John 15:6 (English Standard Version) says "If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.".[8] The mainstream Christian view on Jesus' miracle was that Jesus was teaching the disciples that although Israel was God's chosen people (Israel was commonly represented by the fig tree [9]), if Israel or any other claim to be of Christ (or have spiritual life) yet do not keep his commandments (as Christ says this is the sign of his followers),[10] then they shall not have salvation.[11] Many Christians believe that this miracle of Jesus echoes the words of the prophet Isaiah who prophesied the rejection of Israel [12] as having special spiritual significance. Isaiah says the reason for this withering or rejection is Israel's continual disobedience. The prophet Jeremiah refers to Israel as a choice vine planted by God[13] which has turned against her creator to become a 'corrupt wild vine'. Jeremiah also describes a vision of good and bad figs representing people of Judah conquered by Babylon, those good eventually returning to Jerusalem, those bad being exiled and punished in nations of the earth.[14]
Some say that Jesus responded harshly in such action (as the above mentioned Bertrand Russell). The significance of not bearing spiritual fruit means that a branch or plant is spiritually dead and must be cut off.[15][16] As understood here, to have such fruit we must be grafted onto Christ, the true vine. This may be considered in a context of the Biblical definition of spiritual fruit as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.[17]
The apostle Paul seeks to clarify the issue in Romans 11,[18] correcting those who believed that Israel was rejected forever. There is difference of opinion about what Paul is actually referring to when he says 'all Israel will be saved'.[19] Dispensationalist theology maintains that Israel will be restored politically and spiritually as the people of God. Reformed theology teaches that Israel is representative of all of God's children in Christ and includes those whom Paul referred to as having been 'grafted in'.[20] These differences of interpretation reflect differing views of eschatology. A example of a popular dispensationalist theologian is Cyrus Scofield, while the views of Matthew Henry are those of a reformed theologian.
Matthew Henry comments on the Matthew 21 and Mark 11 passages but does not refer one to another, suggesting he thought they were two separate events
... Christ looked to find some fruit, for the time of gathering figs, though it was near, was not yet come; but he found none. He made this fig-tree an example, not to the trees, but to the men of that generation. It was a figure of the doom upon the Jewish church, to which he came seeking fruit, but found none...The disciples could not think why that fig-tree should so soon wither away; but all wither who reject Christ; it represented the state of the Jewish church. We should rest in no religion that does not make us fruitful in good works...".[21]

 I personaly pay attention to:
1.) Cursing the fig tree is one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels. This strange miracle is found only in two of the Canonical gospels, namely in Mark 11:12–14 and Matthew 21:18–22.[1][2]
According to the Gospel, Jesus was hungry, and:
Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see whether perhaps he would find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. He said to it, ‘May no one ever eat fruit from you again.’ And his disciples heard it.
In the Gospel of Matthew the fig tree withers immediately, while in the Gospel of Mark (11:20-24), the tree is noticed as having withered by the next day.
Traditional Christian exegesis regarding these accounts include affirmation of the Divinity of Jesus by demonstrating his authority over nature. Traditional Reformed thinking states that this event was a sign given by Jesus of the end of the exclusive covenant between God and the Jews, see also Supersessionism. Under such an interpretation, the tree is a metaphor for the Jewish nation i.e. it had the outward appearance of godly grandeur (the leaves), but it was not producing anything for God's glory (the lack of fruit). This interpretation is connected to the parable of the barren fig tree.

2.) The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree (not to be confused with the parable of the budding fig tree) is a well known parable of Jesus. However, it appears in only one of the Canonical gospels of the New Testament. According to Luke 13:6-9 the parable is about a fig tree which does not produce fruit.

3.) The Parable of the Budding Fig Tree is a well known parable of Jesus found in three out of the four Canonical gospels of the New Testament. According to Matthew 24:32-35, Mark 13:28-31, and Luke 21:29-33 this parable is about the Kingdom of God. It involves a fig tree, as does the equally brief parable of the barren fig tree, with which it should not be confused.

'THE PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE...'

Israel And The Fig Tree

In Matthew 24 : 32; Jesus used the descriptive analogy of a "fig tree", to instruct his disciples about how we could discern the timeliness of his return to Israel.       "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; when his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:"
The fig trees of the middle east region are a fruit- producing tree or shrub. The size of the tree, and the capacity to produce figs depends mainly on the soil that the tree is rooted in.
Typically, the fig tree blooms before sprouting forth its leaves in the spring, and normally would produce, not one, but two crops of figs each year.
In Mark 11:13 Jesus, after leaving Bethany, which is just to the east of Jerusalem; saw a fig tree off in the distance, and noticed the leaves that were thereon; and eagerly
looked forward to partaking of the fruit of it as he neared it; yet when finally arriving at the tree, he found there was no fruit upon it; for the time for figs was not yet in season.
Upon seeing that the fig tree produced no fruit, Jesus cursed the tree, with the disciples standing by observing.

He then proceeded on down to the city of Jerusalem, and into the Temple, whereupon he flew into a rage, chasing out the moneychangers, and calling the holy place nothing more than a den of thieves.
The disciples must have thought these actions were the actions of a madman. Afterall, what sane person talks to a tree and pronounces a curse upon it for heaven's sake?
I believe that everything in the Bible, and in the entire life of Jesus has an divinely intended purpose or message. I don't think God wastes his words, nor would Jesus have behaved in such a manner without it having some meritorious meaning.
But, try to imagine the disciples astonishment, when out on the same road back to Bethany, they pass right by that very same fig tree, and lo and behold, it has already withered up and dried. Why would Jesus curse a fig tree?
During the first dispersion of Israel, God sent a vision to the old prophet Jeremiah, of two baskets full of figs. One of the baskets had good figs while the other basket contained bad figs.
Jeremiah 24:5-7: Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for their good.
For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down, and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
And I will give them an heart to know me, that "I AM" the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
Here, in these verses, God likens the captive exiles of Israel to the those good figs in the basket. The Jewish remnant which was still left in Jerusalem, God likens to the bad, or evil figs retained in the second basket.
I should point out that Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon rose up against Israel and took captive all the children of Israel except those princes who were left as mere puppet rulers in the holy city. The year of Israel's defeat by Babylon was 606 B.C. Then nineteen years later in 587 B.C. Nebuchadnezzar returned back to Jerusalem and destroyed the city and executed King Zedekiah.
Remember those dates and the differential of the years as you read further in this newsletter. I have a point that I want to make clear later concerning that time interval.
Anyway, God promised through Jeremiah that he would return Israel once again into the land, and afterwards that Israel shall no more be uprooted from the promised land; and that He would write his law in their hearts.
This promised of course dream has never been fulfilled during the long history of Israel. It is still a future eventuality. But the fact has been historically established that Israel has forever become prophetically typecast, in a figurative sense, as a fig tree.
When Jesus came strolling down Bethany Road to the city of Jerusalem on that day, he wasn't simply looking for something to eat off the fig tree to satisfy his bodily appetite; but rather, He was looking for "Good Figs". It is national Israel that God has planted in the midst of the garden of nations to portray himself to all the rest of the nations of this world. God has historically longed for Israel to bear fruit (figs), but unfortunately, Israel has never acknowledged the true "Branch"; for which she has been a vehicle to bring fruit from the world.
      In Jeremiah 23:5; God says:
"Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and also prosper, and shall execute judgement and justice in the earth.
This scripture continues on to say that in the days of the rule of the righteous Branch, that Judah itself shall be saved, and Israel will dwell safely in their land.
Of course Jesus was the righteous Branch that was born from out of the stem of Jesse; as Isaiah 11:1 foretold. In the strictest definition, God is in reality the fig tree; with the righteous branch being Jesus; while the figs are the fruit of the tree. Israel is symbolically represented as the early blooms on the fig tree, while the church is typified by the leaves that are on the branch. Later in Romans chapter 11 we find that the Gentiles have been grafted into the branch.
So, when Jesus found no figs upon the fig tree, on that afternoon, and cursed the tree; He was displaying to the openly disciples in a figurative way, that national Israel still as yet had not bore any fruit from the branch; by the mere fact that their immediate generation still simply did not recognize the epic "time of visitation" by their Messiah.
In Luke 18:31-33; Jesus had already instructed the disciples that he was going down into Jerusalem, and while there all the things prophesied concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. He informed them that he would be mocked, scourged, and put to death; and yet rise up again on the third day.
The symbolic paradigm acted out at the roadside fig tree was simply a public display of the rejection of Israel's king, and that "ISRAEL", would suffer the a historical curse in like manner as the fig tree that the disciples saw.
I recall in Luke 12:56, that Jesus took to task the Scribes and Pharisees for not being able to discern the signs of the times. Israel should have anticipated that the season for the Messiahs appearance was at hand, and that the time for the harvest of good figs was nigh at hand.
In Daniel 9:25-26; the prophet Daniel had foretold that the Messiah would make an appearance in the rebuilt city of Jerusalem exactly 483 years of the Hebrew calendar; after the commandment went forth from the Persian King Artaxerxes Longimangus, which was issued on March 14, in the year of 445 B.C. This commandment is recorded within the Bible in the book of Ezra 7:12-13, and again in most of the book of Nehemiah.
So then, on Palm Sunday, in the year of 32 A.D., every single Jewish believer should have been down at the Eastern Gate in anxious anticipation of giving a rousing welcome to the expected King of the Jews.
Although there was a moderate crowd assembled to welcome Jesus into the city, spreading some palm branches before him; by and large, Israel was very unimpressed with Jesus appearance.
Even the disciples were not altogether sure as to who Jesus was. In Luke 10:23-24, Jesus said to them: "For I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye have seen, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them."
Many people throughout Israel’s history had desired to see the Deliverer, or the Messiah King; but to no avail. They were never been afforded that wonderful opportunity. However, a particular generation was providentially destined to be witnesses of the Kings timely presentation.
Even today, there is a generation that has a divine destiny to not see death, but to be transported away by the returning King; much in the same manner that Old Testament Enoch was ushered up into Heaven.
The Bible is accurate, right down to the very minutest detail. God expresses everything in a carefully designed pattern. Every single word, phrase, jot or tittle, has purpose. It is absolutely foolhearty to alter any of it, or to not consider any portion as intensely significant.
      Consider Galations 4 : 4, for example:
But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Notice the phrase, ("The fullness of The Time"). It is an indication that Jesus birth wassynchronised to occur at a definite and prearranged point in human history, an event which God foretold (prophecy), so that there would be absolutely no confusion about who the son of God, the seed of the woman, really and truly was.
All of Israel should have been on hand that Palm Sunday to thank God for being faithful to his word.
There indeed was a very devout man, who had discerned that the Messiah would come during his lifetime, and he had been individually promised via the Holy Spirit that he would see Jesus arrival before his death.
Luke 2 : 25; And, behold there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
Simeon had a direct promise from God of seeing the Messiah before he ever passed away. Simeon was not simply lucky, or rewarded for good behavior; Simeon was an old man by the time of the affixed timely event of the Virgin Birth; and he recognized fully that the anticipated date of the Messiah's mission was only 3 short decades away; and therefore, he was afforded the opportunity to live to see the time of Israel's promised visitation by God.
Simeon probably believed that Israel would accept their long awaited King. He had no idea that Israel would kill the very one that was the lifeblood of the kingdom of Israel. He most likely died comforted in the notion that Israel was rejoined to their King. He did apparently know that sorrow would be associated with his life, because he informed Mary about a future heartbreak for her.
The generation that immediately followed Simeon should have expected Jesus. Jesus very own generation should have had great expectation from among its own ranks that someone special from God would emerge.
Alas, that generation would fail to recognize him; and would cut him off, and then endure later in life to see the total destruction of the beloved rebuilt city of Jerusalem.
In Luke 19:41-44; Jesus approached the city, and on a high overlook, viewed out upon the city, and wept over it.
Luke 19 : 42: Jesus said, If thou hadst known, even thou at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto your peace! but now they are hid from your eyes.
Even at this late date, Jerusalem could have received its King, and enjoyed the promised Kingdom of God, but still their eyes were not opened to the reality of his imminent visit.
Saddened because of Israel’s ignorance, Jesus went on to proclaim that Jerusalem would undergo the loss of its national homeland, including the Holy City, and Temple.
Luke 19:44; And they shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee, and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because “thou knewest not the TIME OF THY VISITATION!”
The season for Israel's blossoming had arrived, and good figs were anticipated, but although the fig tree had blossomed forth, the time for figs was premature.
Mark 11:13 expresses thusly: And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing on it, and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

'THE PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE...'

'THE PARABLE OF THE FIG TREE...APRIL 15TH. 1948!'
                   THIS GENERATION SHALL NOT PASS!

Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible

Now learn a parable of the fig tree,.... Our Lord was now upon the Mount of Olives, in one part of which fig trees grew in great plenty, and one, or more, might be near, and in view; and it was the time of year, the passover being at hand, for its putting forth:
when her branch is yet tender; and soft and opening, through the sap now in motion:
and putteth forth leaves; from the branches:
ye know, that summer is near; from such an appearance on the fig tree;

See Gill on Matthew 24:32

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh
 Matthew Henry's Commentary...

3:28-37 We have the application of this prophetic sermon. As to the destruction of Jerusalem, expect it to come very shortly. As to the end of the world, do not inquire when it will come, for of that day and that hour knoweth no man. Christ, as God, could not be ignorant of anything; but the Divine wisdom which dwelt in our Saviour, communicated itself to his human soul according to the Divine pleasure. As to both, our duty is to watch and pray. Our Lord Jesus, when he ascended on high, left something for all his servants to do. We ought to be always upon our watch, in expectation of his return. This applies to Christ's coming to us at our death, as well as to the general judgment. We know not whether our Master will come in the days of youth, or middle age, or old age; but, as soon as we are born, we begin to die, and therefore we must expect death. Our great care must be, that, whenever our Lord comes, he may not find us secure, indulging in ease and sloth, mindless of our work and duty. He says to all, Watch, that you may be found in peace, without spot, and blameless.
